Today
we stayed at Toby’s lodge. I wanted to test my equipment before the long
journey up north. My problems are not gone and I’m very dissatisfied.
When I bought my UW tent there was explicitly taken measures for my 60
mm. I had brought both my camera and my 60 mm with me to the store.
Still it shows now that when auto focus can’t quite calculate the right
distance, the camera runs through the whole focus program.
This presents a problem because the UW house is not long enough. After
having thought it over I now decided that for the future I would use my
somewhat inferior 35 to 70mm.
That
second dive had barely started before the inside of my UW house started
fogging up. I had to get up in a hurry and let the inside of it dry out.
By now it was afternoon, and whilst the others were watching soccer,
I decided to go for the third dive of the day. Everything was working
while I was on shore so I thought my troubles were through, but no no
no. No my camera wouldn’t focus all together. I decided to wait, and
dive the following day this time without the flash.
Today
three scientists from the Belfast University arrived, two men and one
woman. This could be good for the social life at the lodge, especially
because they had told Toby to remember to buy plenty of beer and gin. We
never saw them close to drunk though. But what can you expect from
people that make their living studying shrimp? I think that Anna
appreciated some female company though.
